The question i have at the beginning of this novel is, what is Nick Carraway's neighbor reaching out towards on the end of his dock and why is he so mysterious about it. Also why isn't daisy even bringing up Toms “lover”.

I find it interesting that daisy is keeping everything about tom extremely low. I believe that this is insight on what gender inequality was like in the roaring 20’s. This type of disrespect towards daisy shows how men degraded women and treated them like objects they own. F. Scott Fitzgerald uses daisy as symbol of women in the very close future by showing how she begins (by choice) to go and cheat on Tom with Gatsby, by daisy doing this it shows women that they can go out and become the powerful force they can be without their abusive husband.

My opinion on Nick is that he is a down to earth man who is very smart and in touch with the world around him.Tom, is an arrogant man who has had everything handed to him in life and does not respect his family whatsoever. My opinion on daisy is that she is a very two sided person due to confusion of her situation. Daisy is trying to put up a front to show that she has a perfect life but in reality she hates it. jordan baker is a normal woman during the time who is starting to get comfortable around daisy and daisy is rubbing off on her.

my prediction is that tom is going to cut things off with his wife and go and live with the woman/man that called him during dinner. by what jordan said it sounds like this has been going on for a while and tom already seems like a huge scumbag so i think that he's going to just leave daisy and have her do her own thing.

gatsby post 4

All the details about gatsbys life are that he began in North Dakota under the name James gatz. He eventually went to college and dropped out very shortly. He began working on Lake Superior as a fisherman. While working one day he saw an extremely wealthy man on his yacht named Dan Cody. James Gatz went over to his boat to warn him of the storm. Mr Cody took him on his boat as a personal assistant and renamed him Jay Gatsby. 

   These are different than the previous rumors because he is now seen as a little less "great". Before, being a war hero and rich man who got his money on his own was thought of to be much more prestigious than just going around on a boat with a rich man who left him 25,000$. 

The difference between jay gatsby and James gatz is that James gatz is a backbreaking, college dropout, fisherman who doesn't really have any drive. Jay gatsbys a hard working driven man with money on his mind and love in his heart.

   Tom enjoys sarcastically making fun of gatsby and is very disrespectful when taking about him.

Chapter 5 gatsby

The difference between expectation and reality is that (for the most part) what you think a situation might be like and what you would like it to be like could be a whole different situation in reality because you can never control a different person. I believe that if you set a goal and try your hardest to achieve it that it will happen.

The characters that nick describes could be 100 percent real because most of them have on main quality about them, they all have Western European names. I believe that these people who are not famous are some of gatsbys friends from his home country opposed to extremely wealthy people from New York. I believe they are at his house to make his parties seem much livelier than they actually are and to gain daisys interest into possibly coming to one.

I think a hero is a human being who believes in something and will make actions to back up their beliefs. The best example of a hero we see in everyday life are the men and women serving in Americas armed forces who stand up for freedom everyday. I believe that you can wake up everyday and become someone's hero because maybe just 1 act of kindness can change someone's life completely.
